Matrix sources, tailors and exports men’s and women’s garments to the US. Stitching collars on men’s T-shirts requires a skilled operator to ensure the collar is stitched properly in alignment with the neck seam of the main garment, without it being loose or tight. In a 3-day TWI event, the line supervisor was able to learn to do the job himself after watching a worker with 10 years' experience in this job, create and use a Job Breakdown Sheet (JBS) to train a fresh trainee to stitch collars – with the same quality and at 70% of the experienced worker. Normally, it takes about six months for a new worker to reach this stage.
